Quality Control Lead (Chemical Manufacturing)

Are you an experienced QC professional with a strong background in analytical chemistry and laboratory leadership? A growing chemical manufacturing business is looking to appoint a QC Lead to oversee the day-to-day running of their Quality Control laboratory. This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting production through analytical testing while also driving improvements, mentoring staff, and contributing to wider business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the daily operations of the QC laboratory, ensuring priorities align with production demands and deadlines.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing QC Analysts to ensure high performance and technical capability.
  • Performing and overseeing analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using techniques such as GC, HPLC, FTIR, Karl Fischer and titration methods.
  • Reviewing analytical data, identifying trends or anomalies, and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Developing, improving, and validating analytical methods and specifications to ensure robust and reliable processes.
  • Supporting investigations, troubleshooting analytical or instrumentation issues, and escalating where necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • BSc in Organic Chemistry or closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a QC laboratory within chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with GC, HPLC, FTIR, Karl Fischer, and titration techniques.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring team members within a laboratory setting.
  • Good understanding of quality systems (e.g. ISO9001) and ideally GMP principles.
