Electrical Engineer & Senior Electrical Engineer – HV Substations (SC Cleared)
Location: Near Chester (Site-based with some remote flexibility)

We’re working with a key client in the nuclear sector to support a major High Voltage Electrical Distribution Upgrade project and are looking to appoint both an Electrical Engineer and a Senior Electrical Engineer to assist with the final phase of the project.
These roles are central to supporting the Principal Designer / Design Authority (DA) function and ensuring that all documentation across 132kV and 11kV infrastructure is accurate, validated, and fully aligned with site and regulatory standards.
The Opportunity
Whether you're an experienced Electrical Engineer this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a technically complex, regulated environment. You'll be involved in reviewing and validating drawings, working with internal documentation systems, and liaising with engineering teams to ensure system records reflect the live installations.
Key Responsibilities (Both Levels):
- Review and assess electrical drawings across internal document control systems.
- Identify the most accurate and current representations of HV installations.
- Migrate validated records into the AO document/record system.
- Verify as-installed works on site against existing documentation.
- Operate within 132kV / 11kV substations, complying with site safety protocols.
- Support the Design Authority and contribute to the delivery of a compliant documentation set.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Engineers
- Take an active role in supporting the Principal Designer / DA in line with CDM regulations.
- Act as a key point of contact between design teams and project stakeholders.
What You’ll Need (All Applicants):
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Practical experience working with 132kV and 11kV substations.
- Must hold ‘Person’ status for access to substations/ Gridyards.
- Previous experience in a nuclear or high-hazard environment.
- Active SC Clearance, or eligibility to obtain.
- Comfortable working with engineering documentation systems and drawing control processes.
Senior Engineer Level – Essential:
- Professionally qualified to IEng or CEng.
- Demonstrable experience leading elements of electrical design or assurance work on HV projects.
- Understanding of CDM regulations and experience supporting Principal Designer duties.
