Job Title: Principal Electrical Engineer – High Voltage Infrastructure
Sector: Nuclear
Location: Chester
Clearance: Active SC clearance or eligibility to obtain required

We are recruiting for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to support Principal Designer / Design Authority (DA) activities on a major High Voltage Electrical Distribution Upgrade project within the nuclear sector.

This role is vital for maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring system integrity across 132kV and 11kV infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a critical part in drawing validation and system updates using internal documentation and record-keeping platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess large volumes of electrical drawings across two internal document control systems.

  • Identify and validate the most accurate and current representations of HV system installations.

  • Migrate verified drawings into the AO document and record system.

  • Support Principal Designer / DA responsibilities in line with regulatory and project requirements.

  • Operate within live High Voltage Substations (132kV / 11kV), adhering to all safety and access procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with documentation and drawing standards as per site protocols.

  • Collaborate with project and engineering teams to verify on-site installations against as-built documentation.


Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline – Essential

  • Professionally qualified to IEng or CEng status – Essential

  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of 132kV and 11kV substations – Essential

  • 'Person' status for access to Gridyards / Substations – Essential

  • Background working in nuclear or high-hazard environments – Essential

  • Active SC clearance and eligibility for additional security and safety training – Essential

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with engineering document control systems and record management tools

  • Experience operating under CDM regulations as a Principal Designer / Design Authority

  • Strong attention to detail and experience with document control processes in regulated or large-scale infrastructure projects
