The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil & Structural Ground Engineer to work with our client on a project in Warrington, supporting the Site Layout and Balance of Site teams.
This is a permanent, full-time, site-based opportunity supporting the coordination and delivery of civil and structural engineering solutions within the nuclear industry.
Due to the nature of the project, candidates will need to be eligible to obtain the appropriate UK security clearance.
We are ideally looking for candidates with experience in the nuclear industry or another highly regulated/safety-critical sector, although transferable experience from major infrastructure, energy or other regulated industries will also be considered.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Originating and coordinating civil and structural engineering design within the programme.
- Producing calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports and design documentation.
- Supporting design substantiation and technical justifications to meet project, regulatory and governance requirements.
- Collaborating with structural, geotechnical, drainage, utilities, environmental and wider multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated engineering solutions.
- Participating in design reviews, technical assurance activities and resolving engineering queries.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant codes, standards, quality requirements and CDM 2015 obligations.
- Supporting continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and mentoring graduate and early-career engineers.
- Supporting the effective coordination of technical interfaces across the Site Layout and Balance of Site teams.
About You
We are looking for a degree-qualified Civil Engineer, ideally working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or with equivalent professional experience.
You should have:
- Experience in the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, ideally within infrastructure, energy, nuclear or other regulated sectors.
- Understanding of design substantiation, technical reporting and engineering assurance processes.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing technical interfaces.
- Experience using relevant civil engineering and digital engineering tools.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge or experience of American codes and standards would be advantageous but is not essential.
Nuclear & Security Clearance Requirements
This role supports a project within the nuclear industry, so previous experience within nuclear or another highly regulated/safety-critical environment is highly desirable.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain the required UK security clearance for the project and will be required to undergo the relevant security vetting process.
Previous experience of nuclear new-build projects would be particularly advantageous, although we welcome applications from engineers looking to move into the nuclear sector with transferable experience from other regulated or safety-critical industries.
