Senior Tooling Design Engineer

Location: UK (SC Clearance required or eligible)
Salary: Competitive + Benefits

We’re working with a highly respected engineering and manufacturing organisation that is investing heavily in new product development and advanced technology. They are looking for a Senior Tooling Design Engineer to own design activities and deliver robust engineering solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

You will:

  • Design tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components to customer requirements
  • Produce outline and detailed design concepts
  • Identify and resolve engineering challenges with effective technical solutions
  • Evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety
  • Modify and refine designs to meet project and customer requirements
  • Estimate project scope, budgets, and timelines
  • Manage engineering risk and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
  • Support continuous improvement and development of new engineering methods
  • Collaborate with internal teams and support junior engineers

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a Senior Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer role
  • Strong background in valves, pressure vessels, structural design, tooling, or lifting equipment (or similar heavy engineering environments)
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering projects
  • Good understanding of design codes, standards, and safety legislation
  • Ability to manage full design project lifecycles (requirements, concept, detailed design)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering materials
  • Experience with 3D CAD (Siemens NX or similar)
  • Experience using PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar)
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar)
  • Engineering degree (BEng or equivalent)
  • SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it
  • Experience supporting or mentoring team members
