Job Title: Civil / Structural Engineer

Location: Manchester or Aberdeen 
Scope: Outside IR35

Job Description

We are working with a major UK infrastructure engineering and construction company that delivers complex projects across sectors including transport, water, energy and defence. The organisation provides a range of services covering engineering, consulting, project delivery and asset management, supporting the development and maintenance of critical national infrastructure.

You will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence and supporting the successful delivery of projects by providing guidance on engineering outputs and ensuring compliance with relevant processes, procedures, and design standards. The role also requires close collaboration with construction teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with project delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce civil and structural engineering deliverables including analysis models, calculations, design inputs, and sketches.

  • Provide technical guidance and maintain quality control over engineering outputs.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant processes, procedures, and standards.

  • Interface closely with construction operations to support effective project delivery.

  • Deliver work within project budgets and ensure any scope changes are managed and appropriately compensated.

  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to improve project efficiency and performance.

  • Communicate confidently with clients, promoting the organisation’s in-house civil and structural design capabilities.

  • Support and mentor junior engineers within the team.

  • Produce clear, concise written reports covering technical and project aspects.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional institution.

  • Proven UK project experience with a strong working knowledge of current UK regulations and design codes, including health & safety and environmental requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects within sectors such as Natural Resources (Water, Energy, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals), as well as Nuclear and Defence.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to both lead and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
