QUALITY ENGINEER (Inside IR35)

Our Client specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of customised solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.

Due to an increase in workload a role has arisen for a Quality Engineer to support them on site in Reading.

Role

The Project Quality Engineer is a key position within the operational quality organisation and will be responsible for the planning, execution, performance and continuous improvement of Project Quality Management and Control.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will provide QA oversite working with Their collated construction team on a series on interlinked project work scopes they are delivering.

SC clearance is required and so it essential the candidate holds this and our Client can transfer.  There is a need to apply for DV clearance .

Responsibilities

  • Project/Product Quality Assurance and Quality Control as directed and informed by the Project Manager or by the Principal QE
  • Undertake a review of the contract, as a requirement of ISO 9001, to establish all the Quality requirements and resources (Human/Non-human) associated with the Contracts ‘Quality Related Activities’ and document the output (QA/QC Resource Estimate, Quality Requirements Compliance Matrix, Project QA/QC Risks & Assumptions, Records of Review)
  • Responsible for ensuring the identification, documentation and communication of the ‘Quality related Requirements’ (Project Quality Plan) required on each project as required by the Customer and/or Contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring the identification, documentation and communication of the level of Project Documentation/Certification (Schedule of Documentation Requirements List, Lifetime Quality Records) as required by the Customer and/or Contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring the identification, documentation and communication of the level of quality control, review, approval and witness inspection (ITPs/MITPs) required on each project as required by the Customer and/or Contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring the identification, set up, documentation (Meeting Minutes) and communication of Project QA/QC liaison forums with the Customer Quality Representative, Their Delegated Inspection Authorities and any contacted 2nd or 3rd Party Inspection Agencies tasked with undertaking verification, validation, audit and/or review on the Project on their behalf.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting the Project QA/QC resource costs against budget  Responsible for identifying, reporting input to functions annual budget planning process to ensure that known and anticipated costs (Fixed and Recurring Opex, Capex) are captured (Opex, Capex Budget)
  • Responsible for providing input into your training and development plan in this role (PDRs, Training Budget and Training Plan) and supporting any performance reviews.
  • Responsible for identifying, management and reporting input, documentation and communication of the required level of Project QA/QC resource (human/Non-human) for surveillance and verification (e.g. Inspection, Document Review, Project Audit, Supplier Surveillance) for each project to an agreed ‘plan’ (Resource Management Plan) and the associated reporting of status and any variations to the plan. 
Qualifications/experience

  • Minimum 3 years background experience in Quality Engineering ideally from nuclear, aerospace, or oil and gas engineering and manufacturing industry
  • Minimum HNC or equivalent in Engineering, Construction or equivalent technical subject
  • Must be able to understand technical engineering standards and specifications to be able to assure product and processes are conforming 
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, EN 3834, EN1090 
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher - Engineering or Construction or equivalent

Options

Option 1
Fixed term contract on a salary for 18 months minimum (preferred)

Salary is TBC dependent on experience
Travel and subsistence will be provided in line with our Clients Policy.
Effectively, 4-5 days a week working on site.

4 weeks notice period

Option 2

18 month contract minimum (inside IR35)
Fixed day or hourly rate (TBC dependent on experience)

Travel and subsistence will be provided in line with contractor 

Effectively, 5 days a week working in Reading
4 weeks notice period
