FMCG Food Manufacturing

A leading FMCG Manufacturer in the Wirral / Cheshire area is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to be responsible for upholding the company’s exceptional standards through the authentication of all food safety and quality documentation and processes for the site.
The successful Lab Tech will be responsible for performing analytical and sensory evaluations to ensure raw materials, in process and finished products meet specifications. You will support the Quality and Technical Manager to ensure product quality, legal compliance and expectations of the customers are met.
Responsibilities for the Laboratory Technician include:
Carry out assessment of raw materials in process and finished evaluating for suitability, quality and performance to ensure that end product meet Customer, Quality and Legal requirements.
Stock control of submitted samples ensuring correct storage, handling and disposal.
Sampling, preparing and shipping of samples for customer assessment.
Carry out non-routine testing of materials to determine quality and suitability for use.
Log submitted samples on QA database.
Viability checks and log information.
Completion of laboratory paperwork.
Support and abide by the company's quality management system (BRC).
Clean and maintain laboratory and equipment.
Collate and present data.
Manage the resource and materials.
Support with and drive Continuous Improvement projects.
Work collaboratively with Purchasing, Warehouse and Production.
Operate safely and encourage a culture of H&S reporting any near misses and potential hazards.
Operate within good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards and follow all GMP and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
Reporting any issues to relevant senior staff members in a timely manner.
You will have experience within the lab and an understanding of food manufacturing – HACCP, GMP etc and
ideally possess Food Safety in Manufacturing Level 2 and knowledge of BRC.
You will have a general knowledge of Health and Safety, a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You will be proactive and well organised with excellent numeracy and problem solving skills.
