Key Objectives:

· To take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work
· To deliver fit for purpose, practical Engineering design in line with specification,
budget and programme
· To support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best
practice, innovations, continual improvement
· To development and retain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
· To maintain up to date knowledge and competence to support the role and to
align to client’s and industries’ requirements and directives

Main Activities:

· Produce new and update existing detailed mechanical design documentation;
typically -
o Piping ISOs, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, GAs, 3D models,
piping schedules, material take-offs, bills of material (BOMs), detailed site
instructions, calculation records, etc.
· Comply with both national and site standards
· Carry out site surveys
· Compile document work packs
· Comply with company and site procedures; typically –
o Engineering design, project control, documentation control, procurement,
· Support other activities; typically –
o estimating, commissioning, hand-over, procurement
· Contribute to team(s) to support continual improvement
· Work independently, using own initiative


· Required -
o ONC / HNC or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline
· Preferable -
o HSEQ qualification (i.e. IOSH)
o CompEx – ExF (foundation) or Ex11 (Mechanical) or Ex12 (Application
Design Engineers)
o Pressure Directive (PED) awareness / conformance

Experience & Knowledge:

· 5 years recent experienced in an equivalent role
· Industrial sector Engineering
· COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment
· ATEX directive
· Projects
· Engineering design process – scope, specification, site survey, detailed design,
design review, design approval, issue for construction, commissioning, “as built”
· Document control processes – review, approval, issue, revision
· Engineering documentation
· Industrial Process Manufacturing equipment – vessels, pumps, pipework,
steelwork, systems, package equipment
· Equipment and material specification
· Procurement & expediting processes
· Installation processes – site surveys and measures, installation instructions, “as
built” records
· Query processes – TQs, CVIs
· Verification processes – pre-commissioning, commissioning, hand-over
· Commercial processes – estimating, budget, programme
· CDM project lifecycle
· Strong PC skills – AutoCAD, 3D Modelling, MS Office, drafting tools, document
databases, specialist Engineering design tools
