Our Client is a technology-based engineering solutions Business, they meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures.

They currently require the services of a Section Engineer on contract based at Gatwick station.

Gatwick station currently experiences significant passenger congestion both at platform level and in the existing station concourse.  The project seeks to provide a world class passenger interchange from plane to train.  It will improve passenger experience by providing a new concourse which will reduce congestion, improve vertical circulation and provide an intuitive connection with airport terminals.

The ideal candidate will be supporting GRIP 3 to 8 services, from concept design through to detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning and handover.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer and responsible for the successful delivery of Stage 1 which includes the demolition and reconstruction of a new platform, including lifts and escalators whilst working in close proximity to the operational rail. This milestone must be completed safely, to the right quality and on time. 


Ensuring all works are delivered safely in compliance to the Costain Way, Network Rail and where appropriate GAL process.


Conduct weekly TRM and engagement Support daily start of shift briefing Write TBS’ as well as review those of the supply chain Ensure all Network Rail and Costain permits are in place for works. Attend, support and lead SHE readiness reviews Ensure all GAL permits and agreements are in place for works that require it

Quality and assurance

Ensure that all works are progressively assured and that checksheets are completed on time and correctly in line with the ITP’s. Contributing to the culture of “Right first time” and managing suppliers to deliver their assurance progressively
Specifically: Conduct weekly quality surveillance Audit and contribute to checksheet completion alongside supply chain Attend and contribute to quality risk reviews Produce NCR’s where required

Programme and delivery

Ensuring we achieve the key milestone deliverable: Completion of the physical works of Stage 1: EIS platform 7 3rd January 21. Attend 12 week collaborative planner Ensure 4 week rolling programme is produced by supply chain and is accurate Attend and support co-ordination meetings

Operational interface

Ensuring that our works are planned and delivered without any adverse impact on the station, airport or operational railway. Supporting a positive relationship with the station and GAL and ensuring that the passenger experience is enhanced during the delivery of our works. Ensuring compliance to Network Rail and GAL process
Commercial and contract
Working closely with the commercial and planning team to ensure the contract is administered correctly with the Client and supply chain.
