An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depot Engineer at a marine bulk fuel storage site that manages the receipt, storage and issue of fuel products for the Royal Navy.
The Depot Engineer will be responsible for the safe and effective running of the maintenance function at the Oil Fuel Depot to meet all the necessary regulating requirements, including environmental and COMAH.
They will work as part of the team and will also deputise for the Depot Manager so will require good organisational, supervisory and administrative skills. Good interpersonal skills to form strong positive working relationships with all stakeholders. The role requires a strong background in maintenance and engineering, with the ability to demonstrate strong management and leadership skills and a focus on ensuring that safety standards are maintained and improved.
The Depot Engineer will manage and develop engineering resources so that the site operates flexibly and efficiently to meet engineering compliance and targets, whilst maintaining an exemplary SHE performance. They will ensure Full compliance with company standards and legislative requirements for the effective management of Major Accident Hazards under CoMAH 2015.
The Depot Engineer is accountable for all engineering matters on site including the effective line management of maintenance technicians, training, direction and support to new and existing staff, coaching and performance management and resource management including holiday and absence approval.
The Depot Engineer is accountable for:
- Ensuring the compliance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule of inspections for all site assets
- Maintaining plant equipment in order to maximise availability of fuel delivery
- Ensuring compliance with the Safe Systems of Work {SSoW) at all times, including Control of Works AP, issuing of permits and supervision of contractors
- Liaising with Project Engineers and contractors/suppliers to ensure the Risk Assessments, Job
- Method Statements and skilled person competence is satisfactory to allow work to be approved
- Attending progress meetings, or lead and report on progress
- Identifying and initiating management of change processes where there is a change to procedures, plant and equipment, people or substances
- Establishing and maintaining safe working practices and procedures in accordance with mandated legislation and best practice, with a focus on meeting the requirements and standards of COMAH
- Fault Finding and repair of plant and equipment, maintenance of plant and equipment
- Manage Minor New Works project delivery
