Role Outline/Responsibilities:

Client Overview:

As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C project, our Client provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of the Nuclear Island (BNI).

This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.

Assignment Scope:

The Quality Engineer for the Joint Design Office (JDO) will be responsible for setting up the JDO Management System (JMS).

The Joint Design Office is being set up between our Client, CNEPE and HPC, and will therefore need to have practical and efficient arrangements put in place based on existing systems and processes to enable the smooth operation of the JDO.

The Quality Engineer will be part of the Joint Design Office and will report to the Nuclear Safety & Quality Manager.

Main Activities:

In order to set up the JMS, at least the following activities will need to be performed:
  • Design of process map for JDO
  • Mapping inventory of existing process and procedures to enable confirmation of applicability
  • Adaptation of applicable existing procedures
  • Production of new procedures
  • Production of organizational memorandum for the JDO
  • Production of management manual for the JDO
  • Development and deployment of training regarding the JMS for all JDO staff
  • Ensure JMS adherence to external standards (e.g. ISO 9001:2015 and GSR Part 2) and customer requirements (e.g. GQAS)
  • Organize process reviews
  • Setting up and managing the continuous improvement process for the JDO
  • Setting up and managing the non-conformance and corrective/preventive action process
More broadly, the following activities are expected:
  • Development of JDO quality portal
  • Support development of the quality culture in the JDO
  • Participation in Quality Coordination meetings with the Clients
  • Coordination of and participation in internal and external quality audits as required, generating audit reports and progressing follow-up actions
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance indicators
  • Preparing reports as required for Management Reviews
Dimensions:
  • Line manager accountability will be to the Nuclear Safety & Quality Manager in UK
  • There will be operational links with the JDO
  • Key stakeholders for this role will be: Edvance IMS, CNEPE IMS, HPC (NNB) IMS and Edvance HPC Project
Business Travel:

•              Frequent travel to France & to Hinkley Point C site, Bristol UK

Key Relationships:

•              Working with the engineering team reporting to the Project Controls Manager

Qualifications

 Essential:
  • Knowledge of the ISO 9001: 2015 standard requirements
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  • Engineering or science degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with the development and implementation of Quality Management Systems
  • preparation, review, issuance and control of documents
  • performance of quality audits
  • non-conformance, corrective and preventive management
  • Experience working in a nuclear, engineering or design office environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
  • Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines

  • Fluent in English – written & verbal
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of the IAEA standard GSR Part 2 requirements
  • Knowledge of General Quality Assurance Specification (GQAS) & Quality Related Activities (QRA) 
  • Knowledge of the Quality Management Systems of Edvance, CNEPE and HPC
  • Qualified internal auditor
  • Experience with training in Quality management topics
  • Experience in performance of Root Cause Analysis
  • Membership of a Professional Institute leading to Chartered Status in a relevant topic are
  • Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment
  • Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects
  • French language skills – written & verbal – able to produce technical documents in French

  • MS Office & Outlook
Security Clearance:
  • BPSS level clearance required
