The Opportunity

 

You will be working for a growing Civil and M&E contractor, working within their Civil / Infrastructure business on an initial 3 month contract. Having developed a long term framework partnership, they are looking for a recently qualified graduate Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of civil related remedial / refurbishment works related to section 38’s and 278’s. This represents an excellent opportunity for either a recent Quantity Surveying Graduate interested in a career in civil engineering or a post-graduate with 1-2 years' experience.

 

To be applicable for this opportunity, you must be a current (or soon to be) graduate with a BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent. Industry experience such as a placement year or post-graduate position for another contractor will be seen as highly advantageous.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Reporting to the company directors, you will provide financial and surveying related information ensuring that the schedule of works is being strictly adhered. You will measure and record works in preparation for valuations and final accounts. Record all relevant events for delay and loss and expense claims. Monitor and ensure that all information is correctly recorded to ensure full payment can be recovered for all work claimed and certified. Liaise with client representatives and other members of the team to ensure effective communications and a cohesive working environment.

Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

 

Key Competencies:

 

BSc in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent (essential)

Demonstrable experience gained as a post-graduate or through industrial placement (desirable)

Full UK driving license.

Demonstrable understanding of current trends, the construction industry and role responsibilities
