This role offers an exciting opportunity to be the Commercial Lead for a £1 Billion Project and will develop the commercial and contract management function and establish contracting and procurement strategies.

Role Description: 

This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop the clients commercial and contract management function and establish contracting and procurement strategies, anticipating the requirements of the contractor supply chain, that will ensure the commercial success of the programme.

You will influence, advise and constructively challenge the commercial delivery of the Project to achieve the best possible outcomes for the Authority across its considerable spend with the supply chain. 

You will be required to develop and implement progressive procurement and contract strategies, policies and procedures that will optimise the performance of contracts and suppliers in terms of cost, quality, time objectives, and the allocation and management of risk.

You will be a sound negotiator with the ability to lead on negotiating major delivery contracts with prime contractors. 

As the specialist for supply chain management, you will lead decision-making around contract management for key suppliers, driving value for money and performance to contract.

You will identify and manage commercial risks associated with key supply contracts.

Experience and Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following;
  • Substantial experience of successfully working with senior managers and stakeholders to develop and implement contract management strategies, policies and procedures for a major UK infrastructure programme.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically and be willing to progress innovative and creative ideas in procurement and contracting strategies.
  • Success in leading public sector procurement processes and commercial/contract management, delivering significant savings against demanding timescales.
  • Preferably, experience in the procurement of a large-scale Energy from Waste plant via an IChemE Red book model contract and experience in the procurement of civil and building works contracts via NEC model contracts.
