Our Client is Greater London is curently seeking a Transport Planner to support their Neighbourhood regeneration scheme.
Main purpose of post
To support the Project Lead in the delivery of high profile, high quality and high value transport infrastructure projects, within a programme of regeneration in the Brixton area. The post holder will ensure that the Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood project complies with local, regional and national planning and transport policies; that there is no adverse safety or traffic impact resulting from the project; and that the Council’s regeneration aims are supported, including supporting the Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood Project Lead in the provision of advice on transport matters in projects promoted by the council and its partners.
The post holder will also assist in the provision of other services provided by the Transport Team on an occasional basis as required.
Key Unit Accountabilities
To support the Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood Project Lead and the Transport and Public Realm Strategy Manager in the delivery of transport and physical regeneration projects in the Brixton area
To undertake, and occasionally lead on, transport related projects as and when necessary
To support the Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood Project Lead in stakeholder engagement with a wide range of local stakeholders, including planning and delivering public engagement events and initiatives.
To assist senior colleagues in the team in managing a challenging and varied workload effectively.
To provide sound reasonable advice (written and verbal) to officers, members and others on an occasional basis, as required by the Transport and Public Realm Strategy Manager and the others in the team.
To assist in the development and maintenance of databases of public transport, parking, pedestrian and cycle accessibility, that facilitate informed decisions.
To contribute and participate in corporate projects as required.
To maintain and improve existing knowledge of national and local planning and transport policies and issues at every opportunity and to keep abreast of information technology to assist in the delivery of the service.
To work in partnership with Council Officers and stakeholders in the Borough offering first class advice and guidance on all Transport related issues.
To provide advice and recommendations, and respond to all correspondence within statutory, and the Council’s, timescales.
To work in an approachable way which is transparent, open and honest to customers and partners alike consistent with the Councils’ core values.
To attend site visits as appropriate with Council officers, Members and members of the public.
To ensure with other officers the proper application of the Council's Health and Safety policy and any necessary action to ensure the safety of both staff and public.
The postholder must at all times carry out the duties of the post with due regard to the Council’s Investors in People requirements, Equal Opportunities and Customer Care Policies and will be required to undergo such training as may be required in relation to these policies.
To undertake any duties as may be required from time to time as directed by the Transport and Public Realm Strategy Manager.
