A leading blue chip FMCG manufacturer is now seeking an Automation Engineering Project Manager to oversee the planning and execution of Automation Capital portfolio plan. Based mainly within their site in South Yorkshire, UK travel to work on projects at their other sites will be required.

The successful Automation Engineering Project Manager will be an engineering degree graduate with further engineering qualifications, minimum of five years experience within a similar position in FMCG Manufacturing (desirably food). You must have hands on experience of managing multiple automation capital projects.

Automation Engineering Project Manager Responsibilities include:

• Overall responsibility for any Automation Projects.
• Initiation of projects through review of current process, determine where automation is feasible, explore and cost the project to automate (including ROI) and present proposal back to the board for final sign off.
• Capital expenditure procedure, including creating a written charter for all major projects, establish cost benefit analysis, and provide detailed plans of execution.
• Budget control to track costs accurately and effectively
• Work with site SMT and the Engineering and Operations team, taking full responsibility for all plant automation installations.
• Management of contractors including appropriate selection process when choosing contractors with company policy and site rules and ensure any contractors on site comply with site safety rules
• Carry out research into potential improvement plans and provide cost comparisons from a range of suppliers
• Collaborate with Structural Engineers as appropriate regarding alterations to the buildings
• Project Closing and hand over to the site SMT, ensuring project delivered on time, in budget and all automation tested and ready for go live.
