Junior Renewable Energy Consultant
Department: Research and Environment
The Renewable Energy Consultant is responsible for handling a portfolio of diverse projects and activities focussed on supporting renewable . They will execute a combination of desk and laboratory based green technology development projects as well as support consulting projects. The consultant will also support marketing and business development activities. The person in this position will report to the Principal Consultant who will identify and define their project priorities and deliverables. It will be the Environmental Consultant’s responsibility to effectively manage and deliver work packages and projects that have been assigned.
Conduct desk, and field based studies to support green technology development and consultancy projects.
Provide expertise in an area of specialism within the energy and environment sector whilst developing broader consulting skills.
Provide planning and financial assistance for projects, ensuring all projects meet targets for safety and cost
Proactively engage with customers internally and externally, developing and maintaining strong, positive business relationships in order to understand their needs and recognise opportunities
Support marketing and business development activities, including developing close links with relevant universities and the identification of suitable trade shows, exhibitions and networking events to attend
Support the Principal Consultant in reviewing and developing strategic planning and proposing new business opportunities.
Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy or related Graduate or Post Graduate degree
A minimum of 2 years industry experience
Highly developed analytical, presentation and reporting skills
Proven sector specific specialism (e.g. remediation, waste, renewable energy, planning, policy, etc) and an ability to develop new business in this area
Ability to deliver innovative solutions into process technology, energy and environment sectors
Ability to influence and lead in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Strong leadership skills and desire to take on additional responsibility in the future
Ability to understand people and identify and respond to their concerns
Strong communicator with an ability to tailor content and style of communications in the most demanding and ambiguous situations. Able to persuade without dominating at the highest levels
Can operate on the big picture as well as with detail
Excellent presentation skills, with solid oral and written communication capabilities
