A leading food manufacturing company with a site based in Cardiff is currently seeking a Planning and Logistics Manager to join their team on a minimum 6 month FTC contract to cover maternity leave..

The main purpose of the Planning & Logistics Manager role is to plan and control the activities of production planning, material scheduling and site logistics, to ensure the efficient and cost effective supply of materials/goods to internal and external customers.

Key Accountabilities of Planning and Logistics Manager:

Agree the factory’s capacity plan to support the sales forecast while maximising operational efficiency.

Co-ordination and control of the management of site warehouse ensuring that the warehouse is efficiently utilised and the management system is maintained accurately to ensure customer needs are met.

Ensure that all finished product is despatched accurately and on time to ensure customer requirements are met.

Management of the production line scheduling function in conjunction with colleagues at Group level. Review customer orders, sales and production stock levels.

Co-ordination and control of the management of the warehouse to ensure the warehouse is efficiently utilised and the management system is maintained accurately to ensure production needs are met.

Manage material stock levels to achieve optimum levels to meet production forecasts and factory working capital targets.

Production and preparation of reports to reflect production efficiencies and material stock variances and yields.

Complete comprehensive investigations on material/packaging stock adverse variances.

The successful applicant will have previous experience within a similar capacity (ideally minimum 5 years) with understanding of integrated planning software (ideally SAP) and materials requirements planning. Strong experience of people management, including performance management, disciplinary procedures, staffing levels, appraisals, etc is essential.
