Our Client is made up of 6 individual companies working together to provide structural warranty insurance, Building Control and other insurance schemes to support the construction industry across the UK and in Europe.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Building Inspector to work from home in the Watford area. Although home based, there will be travelling expected to various sites across the region when required.
Providing Site Inspection and technical building and construction expertise relating to the risk management of construction sites registered for warranty schemes.
Inspecting homes being constructed / converted, working closely with developers and builders to ensure the works are carried out in accordance with the technical manual and building regulations.
Effectively self manage by forward planning own workload to provide a responsive, helpful and professional service, whilst maximising time spent on site
Recording inspection details on the data base and communicating comments to customers.
Carry out developer assessments upon completion of projects.
Ongoing liaison with Clients / Developers and Builders offering technical advice and guidance.
Provide advice to line manager on technical areas so that team members are fully informed when dealing with potential Clients
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required
Ensure inspections target a zero claims ratio
Skills / experience
Ideally CABE, RICS, CIOB, ICWCI, however working towards will also be a consideration.
Relevant BC, plan check and site inspection experience or warranty experience.
In depth technical knowledge of Building Regulations and other relevant construction standards.
Basic understanding of general insurance principals and terminology is desirable.
Ability to undertake site inspectionstoassess both quality and the cause/effect of building defects.
Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to create not only good working relationships with other construction professionals but to be able to deal effectively with members of the public.
Meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
Working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
Demonstrate ability to use own initiative
Ability to motivate self and influence others
Excellentt customer service skills and experience of relationship management
Flexible in personal approach
Full UK driving licence
The role requires you to move around sites, travel reasonable distances, climb ladders and occasionally work at height. Please advise if you have any requirements to support you in this role.
