A fantastic opportunity to join an expanding business with over 40 years history designing, refurbishing, manufacturing and servicing mechanical components, parts and systems for clients within the manufacturing, rail and process industries.
This is an ideal role for someone who is a skilled mechanically biased engineer but looking to step away from the tools on a day to day basis and develop their wider engineering skills. Your role will involve supporting the established engineering team to be the link between design, quality, manufacturing and the end client.
If you’ve been hands on working within machining, turning, milling or fitting with heavy industry and are looking to use your knowledge in more of an office based environment, working with design teams, completing estimations for a range of clients and also visiting client sites to cost potential work, then this role might be suited for you.
This role will involve joining a team of 7 Production Engineers. You’ll work with the client to provide estimates for mechanical projects that your business will be completing, this can range from the reconditioning of pumps, valves, pipework, bearings, gearbox housing to specialised multi axis CNC, or milled or turned precision components.
You’ll work on new builds, repairs and modifications ranging from a couple of hundred pounds to in excess of £30k. This is a really varied role and will certainly keep you interested, you’ll work with a really well equipped machine shop, service area and fabrication area and skilled team of machinists spending time mixed between the workshop, office and client site within the local area.
You’ll be tasked with providing estimates, planning production flow, working with quality control and liaising with the end client to ensure customer requests are possible, priced correctly and delivered on time.
We realise this is a niche role, and the skills required may not have been accumulated within one particular role, however if you want to move towards project coordination and management and train and develop yourself further off the tools then our client would be prepared to train and develop you.
This role is about building and maintaining relationships with clients and suppliers resulting in repeat business and long-term relationships, so if you have had some customer exposure or are looking to develop in this area then ensure you apply.
-Time served apprentice or equivalent qualification within mechanical engineering, machining or fitting
-Exposure and knowledge of reviewing and working from schematic designs and an understanding of estimating the cost of machining, including raw materials, and for fabrication work completed.
-Good customer skills
