We are seeking a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme in a high-hazard, regulated environment.

  • Provide Independent Technical Appraisal (ITA) and Independent Peer Review (IPR)

  • Oversee detailed design, construction, commissioning, and decommissioning activities

  • Ensure compliance with EHS, Security, Quality, and site standards

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to multidisciplinary internal and external stakeholders

  • Support capability development and mentor junior engineers within the discipline

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience delivering civil/structural engineering solutions on complex, high-hazard projects

  • Strong background in assessing structures and equipment against safety and hazard requirements

  • Experience developing and applying design assurance frameworks

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge across the full engineering lifecycle

  • Experience operating within industrial and/or maritime environments

  • Confident stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Experience contributing to multi-discipline projects, including electrical engineering interfaces (ideally within defence and/or nuclear environments)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within highly regulated, high-risk industries

  • Familiarity with safety case development, including HAZID/HAZOP studies

  • Experience within the UK nuclear sector (energy or defence)

  • Working knowledge of UK and US nuclear regulations, codes, and standards

  • Experience across nuclear, civil, and defence sectors

  • Engineering lifecycle management experience

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Accredited Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status

  • Relevant experience in marine and/or mechanical engineering environments

Desirable:

  • Master’s level qualification (or equivalent advanced degree)

Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid working model based in Glasgow City Centre (3 days office / 2 days remote)

  • Occasional travel to a client operational site near Helensburgh for facility walkdowns and project activities

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC level minimum)
