Electrical Designer – Energy Sector
Location: Manchester (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days in the office)
Contract Type: Contract (Ltd Company – Outside IR35 optional)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Competitive

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering consultancy within the energy sector for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer. This is a hybrid contract role based in Manchester and offers the opportunity for engagement on an outside IR35 basis, subject to determination.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven electrical designer to support a multidisciplinary team on a range of complex engineering projects. You’ll be joining a collaborative working environment with flexible working arrangements and long-term contract potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, practical, and cost-effective electrical design solutions

  • Prepare a range of drawing office deliverables, including:

    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

    • Cable Schedules

    • Material Take Offs (MTOs)

    • Block Cable Diagrams (BCDs)

    • Schematics and cable/equipment layout drawings

  • Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality standards

  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery

  • Conduct 3D modelling using tools such as Navisworks and AVEVA E3D

Skills & Experience:

  • ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar electrical design role, preferably in the energy or related sectors

  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV design principles

  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software (Navisworks / AVEVA E3D experience desirable)

  • Good working knowledge of relevant UK legislation and standards

  • Familiarity with site installation and commissioning considerations
