About the Project
We’re supporting the delivery of a nationally significant energy infrastructure programme focused on developing a large-scale underground gas and hydrogen storage facility in the North West. This project plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s energy transition, enhancing long-term energy security, and enabling net-zero ambitions.

The Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee multidisciplinary engineering activities across the design and early construction stages. Your responsibilities will include coordinating design assurance, managing interfaces between technical disciplines, and ensuring alignment with programme standards, safety requirements, and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate engineering teams across civil, mechanical, and process disciplines

Ensure all design output is technically robust, safe, and aligned to project objectives

Act as the main technical point of contact across consultants, contractors, and client teams

Review technical documentation and provide constructability input into design

Support technical assurance, stakeholder engagement, and engineering governance

Participate in risk reviews, HAZOPs, and manage interface coordination between engineering packages

Provide regular engineering updates and reporting to senior project stakeholders
Experience Required

Proven track record as an Engineering Manager on major infrastructure or energy projects

Experience in gas storage, hydrogen, petrochemical, or process plant environments (desirable)

Strong understanding of engineering governance, CDM regulations, and multi-disciplinary coordination

Familiarity with NEC contracts and collaborative delivery environments

Chartered Engineer (or working towards) preferred

Excellent leadership and communication skills
