Job Title: Senior Civil & Structural Engineer
Location: Manchester
Employment Type: Contract
Clearance Level: SC or Ability to Obtain Clearance

Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Civil & Structural (C&S) Engineer to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will take a lead role in the delivery of civil and structural engineering solutions across complex projects within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Oil & Gas, and Process.

You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality structural analysis, calculations, technical reports, and specifications, while also ensuring seamless communication of design intent with internal BIM teams, other disciplines, and construction partners. Confidence in engaging with clients and mentoring junior engineers is essential to succeed in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver civil and structural designs in compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

  • Carry out detailed structural analysis, hand calculations, design reports, and specifications.

  • Ensure integration of designs within BIM workflows; liaise clearly and effectively with BIM teams.

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Attend design reviews, client meetings, and occasional site visits.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

  • Represent the team with authority and confidence in front of clients.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years’ relevant experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.

  • Proven background in nuclear, oil & gas, or process industry projects.

  • Minimum BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE preferred.

  • Valid CSCS card required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, and design codes.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g. STAAD, Robot, Tekla, etc.).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support project delivery to time and budget.
