A leading and growing FMCG Food manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Development Chef to join their team.
This Development Chef will develop new products from concept through to launch and to improve the profitability of existing products, working in partnership with customers, suppliers, and all relevant internal departments.

Former Food Manufacturing experience is essential for this role. This is an opportunity to work with Branded and Own label and across a broad product range.

Development Chef responsibilities include:

Achieve a clear understanding of the authorised customer development brief with the Directors or Sales Team in terms of product, packaging requirements, timescales and ballpark costings.
Help to formulate and cost recipes within agreed timescales which meet legal and product requirements whilst
Remaining factory feasible, particularly with regard to high care and low risk segregation requirements.
Help in the “safe” sourcing of new ingredients, ensuring that all new ingredients are factory feasible, particularly with respect to allergenic properties.
Organise and assist in both kitchen and factory trials to evaluate recipe formulations and factory feasibility
Provide representative samples for customers.
Conduct product presentations both internally and externally.
Co-ordinate sample requests from customers/ sales team. Provide samples in a professional and accurate manner with documentation for full traceability.
Compile for issue “mini” product specifications following approval from the Technical Manager for all new
Products launched.
To be able to hand over fully costed working recipes along with reference samples to the process manager in order for them to conduct successful factory trials.
Compile and maintain the product profiles for any new products, which are launched.
Assist the sales team with promotional activity i.e. major exhibitions, photography shoots, recipe information etc.
Play an active role in profit improvement projects.
Monitor trends, innovations and technological advances in the food industry.
Compile and maintain product files for all products whilst under development.
Achieve a clear understanding of factory process constraints.
To provide support to the Technical Manager and the HACCP team.

You will have a HND / equivalent in a Food Science qualification and a minimum of 12 months experience working within a food manufacturing environment. A creative flair for food and a logical investigative approach is essential and Computer literacy in Word, Power point, Excel. You will possess or be in the process of obtaining a full driving licence.
