An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Engineer to join one of the fastest growing e-commerce companies in the UK, driving exponential growth to their clients’ brands globally.

To enable this, the Projects Team is therefore requiring a Planning Engineer to assist in delivering successful engineering/civil projects for the business. Typical types of projects include refurbs of commercial, manufacturing, distribution, hospitality and wholesale facilities. This is a new division within the business, enabling lots of opportunities to make positive change and carve a great career path for the chosen candidate.

  • Responsible for generating robust, logically linked, both cost and resource loaded programmes
  • Create baseline programmes and ensure changes are kept within a structured planning log
  • Maintain the integrated project plan and work package independencies
  • Provide period planning reports on Earned Value, CPI and SPI information for the Project Manager
  • Provide ad-hoc support and planning assistance to other areas of the business as agreed with the Project Manager
  • Challenge the project team to ensure they provide comprehensive programme updates
  • Complete programme reviews, ensuring all contractual obligations are communicated and visible to the Project Manager
  • Maintain and introduce structured project planning standards, and ensure the programmes align with industry standards
  • Analyse, identify and communicate programme concerns to the Project Manager, providing relevant data to reduce and/or mitigate risk to project delivery
  • Identify and resolve cross-functional programmes issues at planning level
  • Proactively take measures to eliminate/minimise potential programme issues
  • Update internal stakeholder reports on project and portfolio status
  • Development of PMO processes and implementation with wider business

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and experience

  • HNC/HND level (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline – Electrical/Mechanical/Construction
  • Expert in scheduling tools, specifically Asta PowerProject
  • Competency using Microsoft Project & Primavera P6
