A rapidly expanding FMCG supplier of agricultural products to the major retailers is currently seeking a Social Sustainability / Ethical Lead to join their Sustainability team as part of their corporate sustainability agenda.

Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, and working closely with the HRD and senior leaders the Social Sustainability / Ethical Lead will be responsible for developing an integrated approach to assessing and addressing the Group’s impact on people within its operations as well as overseas suppliers and wider supply chain. You will be the ‘go-to’ expert on the human rights and social impact agenda driving progress to maintain ethical work standards across the footprint of the business.

The successful Social Sustainability / Ethical Lead will have previous experience in a similar role with a strong knowledge of human rights and employment legislation, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Modern Slavery, Gender, and Living Wage regulations. You will have experience in using data e.g SEDEX to provide insight as well as social auditing experience.

Social Sustainability / Ethical Lead responsibilities include:

• Be the expert and principal point of contact for all matters relating to social sustainability and human rights, keeping abreast of the growing regulatory and disclosure landscape
• Design, develop and implement strategies to raise awareness and increase the capability to deliver our human rights commitments internally and with suppliers with a particular focus on gender and fair pay.
• Ensure robust reporting against key social sustainability KPIs
• Oversee the monitoring of supplier conformance.
• Work with key suppliers to better understand human rights risks and identify solutions, review supplier social audits to determine the grading of ethical non-conformances.
• Ensure areas of non-conformance/concern are addressed
• Use audit data and trends to inform risk reviews and priorities
• Identify engagement opportunities and create strong, trusted and collaborative relationships with relevant external bodies
• Working closely with the HR team, leading on the Group’s modern slavery program implementing systems to identify, mitigate, and if found remedy instances of modern slavery within the UK and global supply chains.
