A global FMCG Manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Lead Buyer to work as an integral part of the Purchasing Function, reporting directly to the European Procurement Manager and locally to the UK Plant Director.

Lead Buyer responsibilities include:

Ensure that the Group Purchasing Policy is respected & adhered to at all times at a local level including compliance with requirements and standards.
Support the Business Unit Purchasing activity, being responsible for all areas such as service contracts, packaging, consumables
Responsible for support and implementation of those sourcing categories lead by Central Purchasing, into the local BU, aligned with the Business objectives.
Owner of purchasing information of the plant including management of SAP Supplier data (info records, source lists, pricing).
Local representative of the Purchasing Team in front of the Suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Initiate sustainable targeted cost savings & quality/service improvements for the plant.
Manage all cross functional staff required to execute delegated procurement activities.
Rationalise the supply base in line with set targets.
Ensure that all operational procurement activities are being conducted in the most cost efficient manner to reduce the number of orders being raised and transactions required.
Ensure effective rollout of Group Terms & Processes e.g. Purchase Terms & Conditions, Payment Terms, Supplier Rating, CPR (Cost Price Reduction) and SRM (Supplier Relationship Management).
You will ideally be a degree qualified / full or part MCIPS Qualified (Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) Lead Buyer / Senior Buyer used to working in a complex FMCG Manufacturing environment, ideally in a matrix management structure. You will be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

You will have strong financial & commercial awareness and be an excellent influencer and communicator. Target driven with a time conscious approach and the ability to balance and progress a wide range of projects.
