Due to continual growth and new project wins my client is looking to grow their existing successful team in Sheffield.

With over 100 years’ industry experience the organisation is a fourth generation family owned UK materials handling provider. Developing innovative solutions to address customer handling requirements across industries worldwide.

Key Activities:

Software Engineering – 70%

  • Create I0 schedule from site survey information.
  • Liaise with clients and ensure that functional design specifications and/or software modification records capture requirements.
  • Program software-based control system, including PLCs, HMIs, UPSs and other field devices.
  • Test and simulate software with the client prior to deployment and produce associated test records.
  • Commission on site.
Project Management  - 10%

  • Plan, organise, secure and manage resources for each project
  • Monitor on-going project progress and produce exception reports detailing any emergent issues.
  • Monitor and report on budget information for identified projects
  • Liaise with stakeholders at project meetings.
Site Management – 10%

  • Monitor the installation phase of a project.
  • Complete site I/O surveys
  • Prepare required documentation such as block cable diagrams, cable schedules, material lists, risk assessments and method statements
  • Review and approve subcontractors' site documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, installation programmes, test and inspection documentation.
  • Organise and attend site meetings as necessary.
  • Coordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in- house functions, and site installation and construction teams
  • Record information in respect of sub-contractor progress and performance.
Maintenance - 5%

  • Respond to operational controls faults and take corrective action
  • Undertake controls planned maintenance activities.
Support future development – 5%

• Research and develop new equipment to support overall evaluation of future strategy.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum industry applicable HNC/HND or equivalent.
  • Full clean driving license

  • · Demonstration of controls experience within a related field within industry.
  • · Familiarity with the Siemens and SEW product group.
  • ·An ability to read and interpret P&ID and process flow diagrams.
  • ·Commercial and contractual awareness
  • · Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • · Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar package
