A leading food manufacturer in the North West London area is now seeking an innovative NPD Technologist to join their team on a permanent basis. The Development Technologist will support the NPD Manager throughout the new product development process from concept through to launch.

The successful NPD Technologist will ideally be educated to degree level in a food science related subject / or equivalent and have relevant concept development experience within the FMCG food manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities of the Development Technologist include:
Ensure trials / projects run within the agreed critical path
Follow NPD procedures ensuring all correct and appropriate documentation is completed taking products through from concept to launch
Maintain project files ensuring the business is audit ready at all times
Support production trials and pre production
Calculate costing to agreed margins and targets and ensure all costings are updated at each stage of development
Create nutritionals for all new concepts where required
Attend pre and post‐trial meetings for all NPD and EPD projects
Test food over complete shelf life from fresh and frozen where appropriate
Complete tests for all dishes
Assist the Technical team with artwork sign off
Source new raw materials to agreed parameters and agree specification with technical and procurement
Lead benchmarking sessions and create benchmark reports for new categories
Work closely with Operations to draft labour for all NPD & EPD projects
Organise consumer testing samples and paperwork
Complete change of Raw Material documentation for changes to recipes or ingredients ensuring these are approved in accordance with company procedures
Create handover documents to transfer new food concepts to the process team and actively support the trial / launch process
Attend launch meetings
Actively investigate to find solutions for any production issues including material variance and quality issues
Attend taste panel and meetings when necessary

You will be an enthusiastic, driven individual with a passion for food. You will possess excellent communication and IT skills.
