A leading FMCG Manufacturer is currently seeking a Head of Purchasing / Purchasing Controller to work with the senior team both strategically and operationally. This Head of Purchasing / Senior Purchasing Manager will oversee the purchasing team for a £50M turnover organisation. This role will ideally require a Food Manufacturing background and will be a hands on, site based role.
Head of Purchasing responsibilities include:
Manage and lead the Purchasing team
Effectively create and execute short, medium and long term procurement strategies to maximise purchasing power
Provide budget recommendations, and ensure the business is adequately prepared and Conditioned
You will evaluate & select the existing and potential new suppliers within the different product categories.
You will work with the existing ERP program to have at all time the actual and correct data available, at the same time you may be required to act as Category Manager on group level responsible for one or more categories. For these products you will be the first point of contact for existing as well as potential new suppliers, you will be responsible for the group purchase strategy as well as for all negotiations with the suppliers envolved.
Together with the other Category Managers within the group you will form a strong team focussed on continuous improvement, uniformisation of processes, consolidation of the existing supplier portfolio and creation of the overall group purchase strategy.
Optimise savings and value delivery through sustaining high levels of innovation / NPD, continuing cost value effectiveness
Adopt a cross-functional and customer focussed
Directly and indirectly responsible for sourcing negotiation and placing of contracts for raw materials and/or packaging materials.
Providing the business with up to date market and product information to enable informed business decisions to be formulated
Supplier Performance Management: develop and maintain excellent relationships with key suppliers to improve performance and drive value
Liaising with the Planning Department to reduce stock write offs
You will be a degree / equivalent and CIPS qualified Purchasing Manager / Head of Purchasing with a strong FMCG Manufacturing background. You will have a proven track record of excellent negotiation and leadership skills.
