Mechanical Design Engineer (Solidworks)

This key client has operational centres in the UK, France, the USA, Canada and Japan and brings together a comprehensive range of technologies and services for facility restoration, decommissioning of plants, and the treatment of low-and intermediate-level radioactive waste, all nurtured by our nuclear experts and backed by thousands of staff worldwide.

In the UK the client has delivered the world’s first remote handling equipment to operate inside a nuclear fusion reactor. The business is staffed by an amazing group of uniquely-skilled designers, engineers and assemblers who are developing and delivering solutions to some of the most complex projects, which currently includes Nuclear projects in the UK, Europe and in Japan.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will join this established team and will be working on various projects for clients in the Nuclear sector, all through the use of Solidworks.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


The following are the minimum requirements for this post:
  • Ideally a recognised degree level qualification in engineering at a minimum level of 2:1 (Hons) although experience for the more senior positions is as relevant.
  • An excellent knowledge of mechanical design first principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively and technically and to work as part of a team.
  • An excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • A good working knowledge of Solidworks is essential.
  • Experience in the design, implementation and use of remote handling equipment.
  • Experience in the design and development of robotic equipment.
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanisms
  • Experience of designing for assembly, designing mock-ups, etc.
