A leading FMCG food manufacturer with a site in North West London is currently seeking a Category Buyer to join their procurement team on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement the successful Buyer will be responsible for developing excellent working relationships with internal and external contacts to ensure best quality and availability of ingredients ensuring ‘best in market’ products whilst achieving financial value for the business.

Buyer responsibilities include:
Manage the procurement of a group of product categories across 2 sites.
Working with Head of Procurement to manage internal communication in relation to changes in materials, prices changes, delivery lead times and individual supply issues
Own projects in order to improve ingredient supply and purchasing activity, in particular supporting the growth of the procurement function with the business.
Maintain up to date supplier details, pricing information, contracts and supply base contacts, ensuring they are accessible to internal customers and changes are notified.
Support Head of Procurement including supplier correspondence, sourcing samples, attendance at meetings and recording supplier performance.
Be the primary company point of contact for the supply base and represent the interests of the business during supplier visits.
Build and manage category plans for each supply base.

You will be a Buyer / Category Buyer used to working within a manufacturing environment. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong negotiation skills and proven experience of liaising professionally with suppliers. You will have advanced Excel skills including the creation and use of macros and CIPS qualification would be desirable. Travel to sites and suppliers will be required for this role so a driving licence and car will be essential for this role.
