Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Job in Thornton Cleverleys – Chemical – Oil & Gas  

Due to continued growth and a number of new projects won, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an award winning Engineering and Project Management consultancy based in the North West.

My client employs specialist mechanical design engineers who are supported by a team of 3D AutoPlant designers, 2D design detailers and CAD operators. In addition, my client supplement their mechanical capabilities using expert sub-contractors and consultants, particularly in areas such as vessel inspection, stressing and design and modelling of refineries for the Chemical and Oil & Gas industries for a range of clients in the North West.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will support the Project Manager in providing a high quality design service covering all the mechanical aspects of projects from inception through to project completion and client handover.

 

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineers responsibilities will include but not limited to

 

  • Leading and managing design in collaboration with the operations team, undertaking design reviews and assisting with the re-engineering and pre- designed contracts
  • Undertaking and overseeing schematic and detailed design of systems within specialist are of skills
  • Conducting design validation visits to installation sites
  • Providing support for business development by technical risk assessment of tender information, highlighting both risk and opportunities and delivering high quality design solutions that address our contractual obligations whilst mitigating technical risk
  • Developing other design team members, acting as a mentor
  • Ensuring that the company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are adhered to, and be familiar with all current legislation regarding Building Regulations, legislative requirements, BS, EN standards, CDM, Health, Safety & Environmental issues relating to design and technical activities
 

 




The ideal candidate:
  • Degree/HND/Higher Apprenticeship in relevant discipline
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D and Bentley AutoPLANT 3D
