Up to £60,000.00 (DOE) plus benefits and relocation assistance

A leading food Manufacturer is currently seeking a Technical Manager to join their team to be responsible for ensuring that the factory QA team maintain agreed company standards within the factory for its processing and packing operations.

The successful Technical Manager will support food safety, quality and legality to the site. Manage a team of QA Technicians and working without direct supervision. Develop, monitor and ensure compliance to standard procedures in the manufacturing environment. Define and implement GMP/GHP standards in the factory.

Our client is looking for an experienced Technical / QA Manager from FMCG Food Manufacturing back ground. They want a driven individual who has previous experience of driving and implementing change and improvements within a similar FMCG Food Manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities include:

In conjunction with the Technical Manager, take a leadership role to promote Quality and Food Safety in all aspects of the business.
Review, develop, maintain and implement the Quality Management system ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
Develop, implement and monitor operational procedures, guidelines and GMP, advising Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical Management where appropriate.
Ensure timely and accurate audit reports are maintained and reports issued to relevant Managers.
Maintain ongoing clear communication with Technical Manager and Department Managers with regard to status of quality issues, product non-compliance and corrective actions required.
Provide structure to ensure compliance to corporate and customer product / quality specifications.
Provide structure which enables site to achieve Grade A in BRC certification audits
Liaise and work with all departments across the site to achieve excellent scores in both internal and external (including customer) audits.
Ensure timely investigation of customer complaints and quality incidents to determine root cause and effective corrective action.
Provide advice and problem assistance particularly in areas such as minimising product downgrade.
Provide specialist knowledge to help resolve issues speedily and readily.
Take a pro-active approach to identifying problems and pattern, linking through to identifying training needs where necessary.
Ensure effective communication and follow up on non conformances and performance trends.
Drive continuous improvement in plant hygiene standards through the management, maintenance and development of effective plant hygiene monitoring programmes.
Provide effective team leadership for the team of Technicians in both the laboratory and the factory; promote a proficient, effective and harmonious working environment based upon trust, respect and good communication and take action to address individual or group behaviour that may be detrimental to positive working relationships or an effective quality service.
Ensure effective, timely and accurate completion of own and Technicians’ documentation.
Listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including activities such as Team Briefings, Handovers, one-to-one coaching of Technicians, sourcing feedback and reporting to Technical Manager.
Through the coaching process, determine individual development needs ensuring these are clearly documented and a programme developed and implemented.
Ensure Technicians are appropriately trained and up-to-date at all times through internal and external training programmes and on-going coaching and development.
Provide and deliver site food hygiene / food safety training.
