Job Summary: As a Structures Asset Engineer in the Area 4 Structures Asset Team, you will be engaged in the development of highway structures asset renewal schemes and assist in the delivery.
Assist the Structures Asset Lead in managing the Structure Asset Team including the all aspects of the health and safety, environmental and complying with procedures.
Identifying highway structure renewal needs and entering these onto the business asset need management system such that they feed into the client’s forward programme of renewal activities.
Aid the Structures Asset Lead to develop structures renewal schemes alongside other asset teams to aid in the production of an integrated five year rolling programme of work.
Undertake coordinated development and preliminary design of structure asset renewal schemes within the Integrated Delivery Team, including drawings, reports and calculations, in accordance with Highways England standards, including DMRB, IANs, MCHW etc.
Identify the need and scope of and management of technical surveys, as part of development and preliminary design work, to Highways England standards and current industry practices.
Play a key role in coordinating supporting scheme development activities, such as TTRO, roadspace, statutory service enquiries, environmental and asbestos assessments and cost estimation.
Preparation and presentation of structure asset renewal schemes at technical and scoring value management workshop in accordance with the requirements of the latest revision of Highways England’s Project Control Framework.
Assist the Integrated Delivery Team, during the design and delivery of the renewal schemes to ensure the Structures Asset requirement are maintained.
Provide, in conjunction with the Structures Asset Lead, specialist advice and network intelligence to the Integrated Delivery Team, other asset teams, Highways England and other key stakeholders.
Providing technical advice and guidance for less experienced members of the Structures Asset Team, promoting a culture of technical excellence and mentoring junior team members.

Maintain compliance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
Ensure that safety is maintained as number one priority at all times
Carry out CDM designer duties, ensuring the principles of risk reduction are implemented on all schemes and at all stages of design.
Working as part of the Integrated Delivery Team including close liaison with other teams across
the business to ensure successful delivery of schemes.
Assist in ensuring structural asset records within the Structures Asset Team is current by regular
access of SMIS and SAP.
Fully implements and performs all aspects of the job role in accordance with the relevant
external) and members of the general public, with fairness, respect & dignity at all times.
Perform any other reasonable duties that are within the job holder’s skills and experience
capabilities are deemed necessary by the needs of the business.
In fulfilling the above responsibilities and duties, the job holder will be required to attend site visits.
