Job Description/Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve HSE procedures and systems, with the HSE Manager, to provide a framework for the business to meet corporate and legal requirements
  • Provide expert advice on HSE legislation and good practice, so that business, corporate and legal requirements are met in an effective and appropriate manner both at site and in the office
  • Advise and support site managers in the production of an HSE plan, so that best practice is consistently applied
  • Provide input to proposals as necessary to assure potential clients of the HSE approach and capability of the business
  • Audit compliance to HSE requirements, both within the business and with suppliers and subcontractors, and track progress on actions arising, to ensure that procedure and systems are applied consistently
  • Provide information for management reports covering HSE-related activities and incidents, so that senior management, the staff consultative committee and others have clear visibility of performance and trends
  • Provide input to the investigation of HSE incidents so that the integrity and completeness of the investigation and actions arising is assured
  • promotes and influences HSE activity and behaviour throughout the business
  • Influences and advises at all levels
  • Audits and carries out detailed investigation
  • Works within procedures
  • Ensures all incident investigations get to root cause through application of own expertise and through influencing and advising senior site staff
  • Discusses HSE issues with designers and engineers to ensure they are taken into account at the design stage
  • Persuades others to behave in a manner consistent with the Values on HSE
  • Has to have the ability to influence the actions of all levels of subcontractor staff through maintaining a professional and authoritative attitude
  • Member of IOSH
  • Significant site and construction experience, typically equivalent to at least 5 years experience
  • SC/DV Cleared
