Lead Mechanical Engineer

 

Scantec are currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer for an opportunity with one of our most prestigious clients.

  • Lead Mechanical Engineer - preferably chartered or working towards Chartered status
  • Experience of heavy industry / fabrication & pressure systems to PSSR4 / PED
  • Able to use Autodesk Inventor & Vault
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings to BS 8888.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) / negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with working to expectations of nuclear licensed site
  • Willing to travel – within UK and Europe
 
Lead a small team of engineers supporting manufacture and test of a large moving machine to exacting tolerances. Setting daily and weekly goals and tasks for the team working to deliver the overall engineering support to the client. Close work with the clients lead engineer(s) to seek early engagement and approval of any required design changes. Role will include drawing and documentation checking to create an “as-built” record of manufactured parts. Work will also be required developing the supporting documentation (including MFD / O&M) to substantiate the end product and ensure design requirements are demonstrated to the client’s satisfaction.

Where design / manufacturing issues are encountered, the lead engineer will liaise with the client to develop a plan and remediation of the design which causes least impact to the overall project timelines and cost – where necessary this may include creation and justification of calculations and drawings ahead of approval to manufacture.

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance necessary for the role. **
