About the Role
Due to a growth opportunity, our client based in Manchester is looking to build a new Road & Traffic Safety team to sit along side their existing mature Highways business. Working in a team environment you will design and deliver traffic engineering and road safety projects through appropriate technical standards. You will be expected to exercise independent engineering judgement and provide innovative solutions to engineering problems. You will be a proactive and collaborative team member.
Specific role responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 1. Undertaking scheme investigation, accident analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, site inspections, data collection and analysis, and works/construction inspection and supervision. 2. The preparation of technical designs in accordance with approved design procedures. 3. Preparation of technical documents and drawings. 4. Carrying out Road Safety Audits to HD19/15 5. Managing delivery of small projects or a small programme of work with minimal supervision. 6. Having a working knowledge of Health, Safety and Welfare and CDM responsibilities 7. Take responsibility for own personal development with the support of line manager and following an agreed development plan 8. Assist in the development of others
Our client requires Engineers from Assistant level through to Principal and Team Leader level. You will have the following skills and experience: * A Degree or HNC/ HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering (or other relevant discipline) or have other demonstrable experience and be working towards Incorporated or Chartered status of a relevant professional institution and you will need to demonstrate ability to assist in the delivery of projects, technical excellence and innovation. * Experience and knowledge in Traffic, Road Safety or general civil engineering projects. * Experience and a working knowledge of relevant design standards ie TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, Manual for Streets, DMRB. * You will be IT/computer literate and knowledge and experience of appropriate design software such as AutoCAD, KeySign, KeyLines and KeyPost would be desirable. * Good communication skills and fluent in spoken and written English are essential and a full valid UK driving licence is required.
