Scantec, one of Britain’s top technical and engineering recruitment agencies, has teamed up with the Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE), which represents the professionals responsible for the prediction, planning, cost and control of resources in the engineering, manufacturing, and construction industries.

Peter Bates, Managing Director at Scantec, said: “We are delighted with this partnership, which is designed to continually improve professional standards by promoting the sector to the brightest future cost engineers and ensuring current professionals access the best training and development.”

The AcostE has been an active contributor to the development of project services disciplines for over 50years facilitating workshops, presentations and offering training programmes through regional events throughout the UK.

As a result of the large number of infrastructure projects in process across the UK the need for project services professionals has never been higher. With 28 years operating within infrastructure, nuclear and power markets Scantec is ideally placed to assist the ACostE in developing the skill base within the industry.

Angela Pammenter, President of the ACostE, said: “Working with Scantec, we can increase membership and attendance to workshops, lead on Continuous Professional Development, refresh industry recruitment strategies and ensure the right candidates are placed in the right roles, which will raise standards dramatically.”

ACostE’s members include cost engineers, estimators, project planning engineers, project control engineers, quantity surveyors, procurement specialists, accountants and risk managers

As well as collaborating on raising standards, the relationship will see added benefits to existing and new members, which will ensure professional development and best practice become part of industry culture.

Edward Hammersley, Scantec’s Team Leader for Project Services: “Our relationship with ACostE is a watershed in the industry. It will ensure Scantec can offer clients and candidates an unparalleled understanding of the project controls and commercial markets within the recruitment industry. Whilst, at the same time, increasing professional standards by growing the presence and membership of ACostE.

“In addition to accredited training and development, we will work with Scantec to provide networking opportunities for members and promote career paths at universities, colleges and career fairs,” added Angela. “We will also work together, when dealing with government and other organisations on issues that affect the industry.”
