We are currently looking to recruit a QC Analyst for our Client based in Runcorn on a permanent basis.

Role will involve organoleptic and physical testing of flavours and juice compounds.

You will ideally have experience of HPLC, GC, Densities, Titrations for acidity and sulphur and wet chemistry.

Educated to at least HNC / HND level in a Chemistry related subject with at least 6 months experience. Fresh graduates will be considered.

Our client is an accredited independent manufacturer of fine organic chemicals. Product applications cover the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, detergent, photographic, food, fragrance and textile industries. They currently have a vacancy in their Research & Technology Department.

The role involves the transfer of new chemical processes onto plant from laboratory scale to plant scale on our manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performing laboratory work to identify potential problems upon scale-up and to resolve plant issues when manufacturing
  • Collate and interpret analytical and process data
  • Monitor and supervise trial manufacture

This position will appeal to an individual who can work as part of a close knit team, but who is also able to generate ideas and work independently when required. A confident, professional approach is required as is the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Experience or knowledge of scale up would be ideal. Position would suit graduate scientist with a strong background in organic chemistry.




POSITION: QA Auditor REF: SP/ME/S/O/047871
STATUS: Contract LOCATION: Wirral, Merseyside
RATE/SALARY: £10.45 per hour DURATION: 6 months

Our client a major food industry company based in Merseyside is currently looking to recruit a QA Auditor on contract in support of the operations department.

Ensure that finished product quality for all products made on the Site meets the Customers required standards and meets all requirements of the Quality system. To be responsible for positive release of packed stock and to control non conforming product. To be proactive in the prevention of quality failures and actively involved in their investigation and resolution. To provide cover for holidays of other QA Auditors (shifts and days).

Essential skills –

  • In depth knowledge of Quality systems; i.e. ISO, SPC, DIS
  • Ability to work on own in initiative but also possessing wider team skills
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels across site
  • Basic or intermediate food hygiene certificate
  • Computer literate
  • Keen attention to detail, good documentation and record keeping
  • Support for production departments, ability to troubleshoot production issues affecting product quality
  • ISO Auditor / Hygiene Auditor

Accountabilities:-

  • Physical and analytical testing of finished products as determined by QMS and Factory needs (Vit C, B1, B2, Salt, Sugar etc)
  • Run sensory / PQRS sessions at required intervals across Site
  • Positive release as and when required
  • Preparation of metal / weight test packs
  • Perform internal ISO audits / hygiene audits
  • Metal rejects investigations
  • Perform SRM analysis comparisons
  • Calibrations as required
  • Active involvement in quality failures, advise, investigate, follow up
  • Control of non conforming product / drive refeeds and returns
  • Assist in control of intermediate product and aim to ensure FIFO rotation of stock and control of product in Codeage state
  • Ensure status of materials and packed stock is accurate and status code protocols are followed by departments
  • Barcode verification
  • Lab hygiene and other duties as required.

We are currently looking to recruit a QC Laboratory Analyst on contract for our client based in Liverpool.

The role will involve testing a wide range of finished products, intermediate and raw materials, using a large number of analytical techniques. Experience in 1 or more of the below techniques is desirable however full training will be given.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum qualified to HND

POSITION: Microbiology Technician REF: SP/ME/S/O/047684

We are currently looking to recruit a Microbiology Technician for our client in Liverpool.

Ideally you will have at least 6 months experience in working in microbiology testing including bacterial ID, plate reading, TVC, bacterial endotoxin, and environmental monitoring.

Preferably educated to degree level in a related subject. Alternatively to HNC / HND level with relevant experience.

Our Client a Chemical company based in Merseyside is currently looking for a Laboratory Analyst to work on shifts on a contract basis initially.

Experience of Gas Chromatography (GC) and Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP) are essential for this role

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and approve raw materials for use in site production processes.
  • Analyse product samples from production department for sale to customers and approve for dispatch.
  • Provide approval documentation for submission to customers with details of product analysis.
  • Analyse and assist in interpreting the results from chemical samples from production department to support the control of the site manufacturing processes.
  • Assist technology, logistics & sales departments in providing analytical support to evaluate process changes, plant trials & customer requests.
  • Maintain laboratory systems, equipment, procedures & records to standards required by the BSI quality standard for the site.
  • Develop and refine analytical procedures utilising advances in knowledge & availability of new equipment
  • Execute all aspects of job ensuring high standards of health, safety & environmental performance are met and Near Misses investigated & reported promptly.
  • Perform quality audits on site to new ISO 9001:2000 according to audit schedule and as per training.
  • Provide shift cover and weekend cover as required to support production requirements.
  • Ensure the on-line analytical production equipment is working correctly and is calibrated and maintained according to set standards.
  • Develop and promote improvements to the production on-line analytical equipment in order that the service may be continually improved.
  • Provide regular reports of the on-line analytical equipment & compare performance to Quality Objective.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate or HNC in Chemistry.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in analytical chemistry.
  • Skill to work with in team with close interaction between production, technology, logistics & sales departments.

The role is to provide laboratory support to the product development staff. This will include preparing prototype formulations measuring various physical characteristics (such as viscosity and pH) and undertaking instrumental and in-vitro performance evaluations.

Candidates should preferably be experienced in laboratory techniques, especially wet manipulation. They must be capable of accurately recording and collating experimental data. Evidence of more elaborate data management would be advantageous. A chemistry background would be useful but is not essential.

Candidates should be able to work independently. They should be committed to delivering outstanding quality results, have good interpersonal skills and the will to develop good relationships within the team.
