Liverpool at the Shanghai Expo 2010
Liverpool’s participation at the World Expo has been supported by many of the region’s largest companies and organisations. At Scantec Personnel we acknowledge the fantastic rewards on offer to the North West region as a result of Liverpool being represented in Shanghai. SO WHAT IS EXPO?
The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial Exposition. It aims to promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world economy, culture, science and technology, to allow exhibitors to publicise and display their achievements and improve international relationships. Accordingly, the World Expo with its 150-year history is regarded as the Olympic Games of Business.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?
The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai is the largest Expo ever held and is expected to attract some 70 million visitors. It runs from May 1st 2010 until the 31st October 2010, during which time more than 200 nations and international organisations will present their interpretations of the official Expo theme: Better City, Better Life.
Thousands more commercial and cultural organisations are involved, all reaching out to build new trading and cultural relationships and helping to make the World Expo 2010, the biggest business fair the world has ever known.
The World Expo site straddles the Huangpu River with good links to provide access to pavilions on both sides of the river. Shanghai is already one of China’s economic powerhouses and the World Expo is also conveniently situated near the Jiangsu and Zheijang provinces, two of China’s wealthiest and most industrious regional economies.

It is hoped that the Expo In Shanghai will generate significant inward investment from China to the North West region and beyond in many different market sectors including Construction, Financial Services, Engineering, Technology, Education and Medicine. Many partnerships will be created between companies and organizations in China and the UK that will further strengthen the bond between both countries.
